We check your name, membership number and date of birth against your Sport:80 member profile. If any of them don't match — for example a different spelling of your name, an old membership number, or a mis-typed date of birth — we won't be able to send you a link.
You can check or update your details by signing in to your Sport:80 profile before requesting a link.
Terms of Use & Privacy Notice
Terms of Use & Privacy Notice — British Powerlifting Meetings Portal
Last updated: April 2026
By requesting a sign-in link you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to the following terms.
1. Who we are
This portal is operated by GB Powerlifting Federation Ltd (trading as British Powerlifting), a company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales (No. 06625045). For data protection purposes British Powerlifting is the data controller. References to "we", "us" or "our" mean British Powerlifting.
2. Eligibility
You must be a current, paid-up British Powerlifting member aged 18 or over to sign in. We verify this by matching the details you provide against our membership records held on the Sport:80 platform.
3. What this portal is used for
Once signed in you may, depending on the stage of a meeting:
- submit motions for consideration;
- comment on published motions;
- propose amendments to motions; and
- cast votes in formal ballots.
All of these actions are recorded against your verified membership record.
4. Accuracy of submissions
You are responsible for ensuring that any motion, comment, amendment or vote you submit is your own and accurately reflects your intent. Submissions cannot be withdrawn once a stage has closed.
5. Conduct
You agree to engage respectfully and in good faith. We reserve the right to remove or redact any submission that is abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, or otherwise breaches the British Powerlifting Code of Conduct.
6. Data we collect and why
When you request a sign-in link and use this portal we process the following personal data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR):
| Data | Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name, membership number, date of birth | Identity verification | Legitimate interest — ensuring only eligible members participate in governance |
| Email address (held on Sport:80) | Sending the sign-in link | Legitimate interest |
| IP address, browser details, timestamps | Security, rate-limiting and abuse prevention | Legitimate interest |
| Submissions (motions, comments, amendments) | Running the meeting and maintaining the governance record | Legal obligation (Companies Act 2006, Articles of Association) and legitimate interest |
| Votes and ballot records | Recording formal decisions of the membership | Legal obligation (Companies Act 2006, Articles of Association) and legitimate interest |
We do not share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
7. Governance data and UK GDPR
British Powerlifting is a company limited by guarantee. General meetings (AGMs and EGMs) are formal corporate governance proceedings. The records produced — including motions, amendments, votes and resolutions — form part of our statutory and corporate records as required by the Companies Act 2006 and our Articles of Association.
This means:
- Your participation creates a legal record. When you submit a motion, cast a vote, or propose an amendment, that action becomes part of the official meeting record. These records must be accurate, attributable and auditable.
- Retention is a legal requirement, not a choice. Company law and our Articles require us to retain meeting records (including voting records) as part of the permanent governance archive. We cannot delete these records on request because doing so would breach our legal obligations.
- The lawful basis is legal obligation and legitimate interest. We process governance data because we are legally required to conduct and record general meetings properly, and because it is in the legitimate interest of the organisation and its members that governance is transparent, accurate and auditable.
- Your rights under UK GDPR still apply, but with limitations. The right to erasure (Article 17) and the right to object (Article 21) do not override our legal obligation to retain governance records. You do retain the right to access your data, to rectify inaccuracies, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
By using this portal to participate in a general meeting, you acknowledge that your submissions and votes will form part of this permanent governance record.
8. Data retention
- Sign-in session tokens expire after the period shown when you request a link and are deleted automatically.
- Governance records (motions, comments, amendments, votes and resolutions) are retained permanently as part of the statutory meeting record, in accordance with the Companies Act 2006 and our Articles of Association.
- Server logs containing IP addresses are retained for up to 90 days for security purposes.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the following rights:
- Access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — you can ask us to delete your data, except where retention is required by law (see section 7 above).
- Restriction and objection — you can ask us to restrict processing or object to it, subject to the legal obligation exceptions described above.
- Complaint — you have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk) if you believe your data rights have been infringed.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the British Powerlifting website.
10. Cookies
This portal uses a single essential session cookie (bp_member_session) to keep you signed in. It does not use advertising or analytics cookies.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the portal after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
12. Contact
If you have any questions about these terms or how we handle your data, please contact British Powerlifting through the contact page on the main website.
